Syrian Airlines has expanded its direct flight network to Europe with the addition of two new destinations, Copenhagen and Vienna, starting Monday and Tuesday, bringing the total number of European destinations served by the airline to three, including Amsterdam. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi met with CIA Director John Ratcliffe on Sunday to discuss a range of regional issues. Sisi praised the efforts of the mediators to reach a roadmap guaranteeing the implementation of this phase.
Sisi reiterated Egypt's firm stance, emphasizing the need to consolidate the ceasefire, protect civilians, ensure adequate and continuous access for humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, and create the appropriate conditions for restarting the political process for a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue in accordance with international law and the two-state solution.
The meeting also addressed the Sudanese crisis, with Sisi reaffirming Egypt's unwavering support for Sudan's unity, stability, and the preservation of its legitimate national institutions, emphasizing that Sudan's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity are inviolable principles.
Sisi stated that Egypt is actively and constructively involved in various international and regional frameworks regarding the Sudanese crisis, aiming to end the war, alleviate human suffering, and support the political solution process.
The spokesperson added that developments in the Horn of Africa were also discussed, with the Egyptian President confirming his full support for efforts to ensure security and stability in Somalia and categorically rejecting any violation of its sovereignty, unity, or territorial integrity.
The spokesperson said that the Director of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency CIA expressed his country's appreciation for Egypt's active role in supporting security and stability on the African continent, and emphasized the importance of ongoing coordination and consultation between relevant authorities in both countries, particularly on the Sudan crisis, the situation in Somalia and the Horn of Africa, and international maritime security issues. This coordination enhances the exchange of views, assessments, and information on various regional and international developments affecting the security and stability of the region, as well as supporting efforts to combat security and geopolitical challenges, terrorist organizations, and organized crime.

On Sunday morning, an Israeli force consisting of three Merkava tanks entered the town of Deir Mimas in the Marjeyoun region of southern Lebanon, blocking its entrance and exit. These Salafist accounts argued that Sheikh al-Rifai, in defining Salafism and Wahhabism, generalized the entire Salafist movement in an unacceptable manner for someone in the position of Grand Mufti of Syria and head of the Supreme Fatwa Council.
Conversely, some defended his view, arguing that the circulated quotes were taken out of context from a longer speech and framed within a discussion of the intellectual transformations that Syrian Islamist groups and movements have undergone in recent years.

Russia's Ambassador to Ottawa, Oleg Stepanov, stated that Canadian citizens regularly apply to move to Russia and live there long-term, and that dozens have already received visas. In a statement to the Novosti news agency, Stepanov said that Russian consulates regularly receive applications from Canadians wishing to move to Russia and live there for an extended period.

FBI Director Kash Patel said the agency used artificial intelligence to prevent six school shootings and increased its use of the technology by 605% since he took office. In an interview with Fox News host Kayleigh McEnany, Patel was asked about claims last March that the FBI prevented a school shooting in North Carolina by processing information through an AI program. The FBI's use of artificial intelligence comes at a time when technology industry leaders have warned that its growth needs to slow to allow for the implementation of necessary risk mitigation measures.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghhay responded to the White House spokesman's accusations against Tehran, saying that these accusations describe the same actions taken by the US. U.S. President Donald Trump returned to the White House Saturday evening, bringing his stay at Camp David forward by a day. This return coincided with an escalation of Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia. The White House did not explain the reason for the early departure, as Trump was scheduled to leave Camp David on Sunday. The move came after the U.S. State Department issued security warnings urging Americans in the region to exercise caution and prepare for potential travel disruptions. The State Department warned that military tensions could rapidly escalate.
These developments coincided with the Saudi-led coalition announcing it intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by Houthi militias toward Riyadh. Houthi militias claimed to have targeted “sensitive“ areas in the Saudi capital and Aramco facilities in Yanbu using ballistic and cruise missiles as well as drones.
Before the latest attack, CNN reported that the Trump administration was not planning to launch direct attacks against the Houthis and was instead focusing on expanding intelligence sharing and targeting data with Saudi Arabia. Four major AI companies are facing a class-action lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, alleging they colluded to slow the pace of AI development. The lawsuit, filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, accuses Anthropic, OpenAI, SpaceXAI, and Google of engaging in a secret and illegal agreement that constitutes a clear violation of antitrust laws.
The lawsuit alleges that the leading companies violated antitrust laws by agreeing to coordinate their efforts to slow the pace of AI development, thereby diminishing the value consumers receive for paid AI subscriptions.
The lawsuit notes that the coordination largely occurred on September 12, when Anthropic CEO Dario Amode published an article promoting industry-wide collaboration and aiming to improve safety measures.
On the same day, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, SpaceXAI CEO Elon Musk, and Google DeepMind co-founder and president Demis Hassabis publicly endorsed Amode's proposals.
